The department composes of the following administrative officers:

Core Functions:

The core functions of Administration Department are coordination of:

  • General office services
  • Transport
  • Parliamentary Business
  • Legal Matters
  • Policy formulation including Sessional Papers and Cabinet Memoranda
  • Anti Drug and Substance Abuse initiatives
  • Inter-ministerial communication

 

For effective coordination of its function the ministry has the following support units:-

Finance Section - Head, Z. Muriuki(Mr.)

The Finance Management functions entail budgetary supply matters; preparing of annual and revised budgets; issuance of Authority to Incur Expenditure (AIE); expenditure forecasts and monitoring; prioritization of projects and activities for the purpose of financial allocations in the budget; oversight of commitment of funds and expenditure trends, budget monitoring, reporting and control of voted funds.

Human Resource Management - Head, J. Rono (Mrs.)

This Division interprets policies and provides services pertaining to Human Resource Management and Development to other Departments/Divisions/Units in the Ministry. It is composed of appointments, complement control, discipline, salaries, training and personnel registry sections. It also ensures staff welfare.

Central Planning and Project Monitoring Unit - Head, E. Ndirangu (Mrs)

The Unit is responsible for policy formulation, planning, monitoring and evaluation among others.

Accounts Unit - Head, Geroge W. Njoroge
(Mr.)

The unit is responsible for effective financial management and keeping proper books of accounts; processing authorized expenditure; requisition for cash from the Treasury; preparing of annual accounts; and replies to audit enquiries on accounting matters.

Human Resource Development -Head, J. Macharia (Mr.)

The unit focus on staff capacity building especially in training and other forms of skills acquisition. Training projections shall be developed and funded within the ministerial resource allocation.

Procurement -Head, Hendrick N. Pilisi (Mr.)

The unit focus on timely and cost-effective measures to facilitate acquisition, delivery of supplies and services and sustain their availability in order to ensure smooth flow of the ministry's operations. The functions include better management of all forms of procurement, inventory and stock control and management and inspection of stores.

Information and Communication Technology Unit - Head, George Muhoro (Mr.)

The Unit was established in 2003 and is charged with the responsibility of implementing the e-government strategy in terms of application of ICT in key areas of the Ministry. It is also charged with the designing and continual updating of the Ministry's website as well as configuring and maintaining a Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).

AIDS Control Unit - Head, B. Mugo

The AIDS Control Unit (ACU) is charged with the responsibility of facilitating, promoting awareness and management of HIV/AIDS for all staff and clients in the Ministry.
