Dr. James Nyikal, Permanent Secretary has reminded the heads of departments, sections and units in the ministry to ensure that they fulfill their performance contract targets within the stipulated period.

He said that was imperative that these targets are met, if the Ministry was to fulfill its mandate to provide services and coordinate the public issues of gender, children, disabilities and social development.

Dr. Nyikal made the remarks on 26th January 2010 in his board when he signed performance contracts with the Ministry’s Headquarters/ Administration, Department of Children Affairs and the National Council for Persons With Disabilities.

The Permanent Secretary signed the Performance Contracts with Mrs. Beth Mutugi, Senior Deputy Secretary, Prof. Jacqueline Oduol and Mr. Kibaya Laibuta respectively.

Mrs.  Esther Ndirangu, the Deputy Chief Economist guided the parties through the signing ceremony. She reiterated on the need to departmental heads to achieve their targets if the ministry to achieve her vision that is ,”a society where women, men, children, and persons with disabilities enjoy equal rights, opportunities and a high quality of life’’

The signing ceremony was attended by all heads of departments, sections and units.
