Today is International Men’s Day.
International men’s Day is an annual international event celebrated every year on the 19th of November.
The project of the International Men’s day was conceived on February 8th 1991 and inaugurated by Thomas Oaster in February 1992. the project was re-initialized in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago.
The objective of celebrating the International Men’s Day is set out in the six pillars of International Men’s Day which include focusing on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting male role models.
International Men’s day is an occasion to highlight discrimination against men and boys and to celebrate their achievements and contributions in particular their contribution to community,family,marriage and child care.
The broader and ultimate aim of the event is to promote basic humanitarian values.
The International Men’s Day was celebrated for the first time in Kenya today. The State Department for Gender Affairs in partnership with Thriving Families Kenya held celebrations to mark the day at the All Saints Cathedral Nairobi
