The Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage has stepped up efforts to curb the spread of gender-based violence, including femicide using mobile advertising cars in a new move to harness innovation and technology to eliminate the vice.

While flagging off the campaign, Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage, Hanna Wendot lauded the drive as a timely initiative to engage the public in the prevention of and response to the rising cases of violence and abuse in the society.

“This is a critical step in taking the conversation to the streets and grassroots, bridging the gap between policy and public engagement, and ensuring that the messages reach communities directly and information is accessible to all,” said the CS.

The campaign will see the deployment of at least four branded digital campaign vehicles fitted with LED car top boxes traverse Nairobi City County with key messages focused on prevention, protection, and response to gender-based violence.

According to official reports, more than one hundred cases of gender-based violence, including femicide, have been reported in the country. However, it is believed that more cases go unreported. CS Wendot emphasized that the government is committed to eliminating all forms of violence and promoting safe and equitable societies for all.

The campaign is a partnership between the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action and Movimento Media, a company specializing in LED car top advertising boxes for outdoor advertising.
